Itanagar: A young ULFA operative surrendered to security forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district following a coordinated operation based on precise intelligence inputs, officials said on Saturday.
Security sources said Assam Rifles, working jointly with Assam Police and Arunachal Pradesh Police, launched the operation after receiving credible information about the movement of an insurgent linked to the banned outfit.
The effort led to the voluntary surrender of 23-year-old self-styled private Kamal Akhun, also known as Vikas Mohanta. During the surrender, he handed over a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine and six live rounds.
