Imphal: The search for a missing Assam man came to a grim end on Tuesday when his body was discovered deep inside a forest in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, more than two weeks after he vanished.
Officials identified the deceased as Dugdha Hazarika, 37, a labourer employed with Bharat Infra Private Limited (BIPL), which is engaged in the construction of the National Highway 102.
The recovery was made in a dense forested area situated between Suahzahau and Zabellei villages, approximately 17 km from the Singngat police station.

Local villagers first noticed the body and alerted authorities, triggering a joint search operation by police and residents.
The remains were later shifted to the Churachandpur district hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death, which remain unclear at this stage.
