Guwahati: Topcem Cement, one of the most trusted cement brands in Northeast India, has announced the launch of its 9th Free Cataract Surgery and Eye Check-Up Camp in collaboration with Eye Doctors – An Eye Clinic & Surgery Centre.
This initiative reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services for underserved and marginalized communities across Assam.
The 15-day outreach programme is scheduled to commence on February 27, covering several rural and semi-urban areas across Darrang district, Udalguri district, Baksa district, and Kamrup Metropolitan district. These districts have been identified based on the need for accessible and affordable eye care services, particularly among economically disadvantaged populations.
During the camp, approximately 250 individuals will undergo comprehensive eye examinations conducted by a team of experienced ophthalmologists and trained medical professionals from Eye Doctors – An Eye Clinic & Surgery Centre. The screenings will focus on identifying cataracts, refractive errors, age-related vision problems, and other ocular conditions. Patients will also receive medical advice, prescriptions where necessary, and guidance on further treatment options.
As part of the programme, Topcem Cement will extend financial support for 40 free cataract surgeries for eligible patients diagnosed during the screenings. The surgeries will be performed at the Eye Doctors Institute & Surgery Centre in Guwahati, a well-equipped facility known for its advanced ophthalmic care. The company will bear all associated medical expenses, including preoperative assessments, surgical procedures, post-operative care, and necessary medications. By eliminating financial barriers, the initiative ensures that individuals in need can access timely and life-changing treatment.
