GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a public rally at Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Guwahati in the next few minutes.
“The moment we all have been waiting for is here – Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji will shortly be with us to share his thoughts and dedicate welfare works to the people!” wrote Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on a micro-blogging website.
Thousands of people have gathered at the venue to hear PM Modi address the public rally, which is expected to be the Prime Minister last visit to the state before the nation goes to general elections in the coming months.
The Prime Minister will be inaugurating projects worth over Rs 11,000 crore during the rally.
Earlier, anticipating a mammoth gathering at the Veterinary College, security has been significantly bolstered in preparation for Modi’s mega rally.
The heightened security measures come as PM Modi is poised to inaugurate several projects worth crores.
Earlier on February 3, Modi’s arrival in Guwahati was met with a resounding welcome at the State Guest House, Koinadhara.
The day commenced with an early touchdown at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, where Chief Minister Sarma, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and other distinguished guests enthusiastically greeted him.
Despite the change in the initially scheduled arrival time to 7:30 pm, the airport premises vibrated with the beats of traditional dance, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of Assam.
The early arrival did not dampen the spirits of the large crowd that had gathered to extend their heartfelt greetings.
Hundreds congregated in Khanapara to partake in an awe-inspiring display of 1,00,000 diyas, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Ahead of the mega event, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pijush Hazarika, conducted a thorough review of security arrangements at 2 am.
Taking to a micro-blogging website after inspecting the preparations, he wrote, “We want to ensure all the karyakartas and people who come tomorrow are comfortable and not inconvenienced.”
