GUWAHATI: Assam’s Dibrugarh witnessed a fervent display of support as Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, arrived to kick off his election campaign after being nominated as the BJP candidate from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.
Thousands thronged to the airport to greet the senior BJP leader, chanting “Aamar Sarba da” (Our Sarba da) as he stepped onto Dibrugarh soil on Monday.
The atmosphere crackled with excitement as Sonowal, a native of the constituency, embarked on a roadshow from the airport to the historic Mancotta field, where a massive rally awaited him.
Addressing the mammoth gathering of over 40,000 people, Sonowal expressed his gratitude to the citizens of Dibrugarh for their unwavering support and affection.
“With the warm response accorded by the people, it is certain that the BJP is on course to form the government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for the third consecutive term,” he said.
In his speech, Sonowal reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Dibrugarh to the best of his ability.
He lauded the transformative governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing Assam’s significant strides in development and progress.
Highlighting the eradication of corruption and middlemen through government welfare schemes, Sonowal emphasized Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
He stressed the importance of electing Modi for a third consecutive term to sustain India’s journey towards self-reliance (‘Atmanirbharata’) and continued development.
Accompanied by incumbent MP Rameswar Teli and other esteemed leaders, Sonowal praised the rich heritage and economic potential of Dibrugarh.
He envisioned Dibrugarh as a thriving hub of trade and commerce, leveraging its natural resources and cultural vibrancy for growth.
As he embarked on his campaign trail, Sonowal expressed confidence in crossing the 400-seat mark and securing Modi’s return as Prime Minister.
Joined by prominent BJP leaders and local representatives, Sonowal’s visit marked the beginning of an energetic electoral campaign aimed at securing victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
