Morigaon: The district administration in Morigaon has taken strict disciplinary action against a teacher and several students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) following a ragging incident reported earlier this month.
Officials said on Thursday that the school’s House Master, Bishwajit Chowdhury, has been suspended for dereliction of duty, while Vice Principal Dhrubajyoti Sharma has been transferred to JNV Mokokchung in Nagaland.

Nine senior students found involved in the assault of a junior on November 5 have been transferred to other JNV schools across Assam.
The decision followed an inquiry by a committee comprising representatives from the district administration, police, and JNV authorities.
Additional District Commissioner (Education) Anusuya Sarma said the administration has directed parents of the involved students to submit undertakings ensuring their wards do not repeat such behaviour.
Teachers have also been warned to discharge their duties as House Masters responsibly to prevent similar incidents in the future.
