Guwahati: Sunil Kanti has officially assumed the role of Executive Director and Head of Guwahati Refinery, owned by Indian Oil Corporation, effective Wednesday.
His appointment follows the transfer of P K Basumatary, who previously served as the Chief General Manager and Head of the Refinery.
A mechanical engineering graduate from the Regional Engineering College, Rourkela, Kanti brings extensive experience to his new position.
Prior to taking charge at the Guwahati Refinery, he served as the Executive Director (Materials & Contract) at IndianOil’s Refineries Headquarters in New Delhi.
Kanti, who took office in Guwahati on Tuesday, began his career with IndianOil in 1994 as a mechanical engineer.

Over the years, he has gained valuable experience working at various refineries, including Guwahati, Barauni, Gujarat, and Digboi, as well as at Refineries Headquarters in multiple roles.
His expertise spans refinery operations and maintenance, materials and contracts, and project commissioning, with additional experience from international assignments.
His wealth of knowledge is expected to contribute significantly to the continued success and growth of Guwahati Refinery.
