Guwahati: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Tuesday administered the oath of office to former Director-General of CRPF Sujoy Lal Thaosen as the Chief Commissioner of Assam State Commission for Rights to Public Services.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Assam Power Minister Nandita Gorlosa, Assam Police chief G.P.Singh, former Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and other senior civil and police officials.
A 1988 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Sujoy Lal Thaosen retired as the Director General of CRPF on November 30 last year.
Hailing from Haflong, Sujoy Lal Thaosen holds PhD from Ujjain University. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the Jawahar Lal Nehru University, and had a distinguished career spanning over 35-years in various capacities.
An avid sports lover, Sujoy Lal Thaosen’s interests extend from athletics, tennis, and badminton to golf.
Sujoy Lal Thaosen served twice in the SPG and was taking care of the security of Prime Ministers of India.
He also served the United Nations as part of the International Police Task Force (IPTF). He was deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1999 to 2000.
He supervised important events like Kumbh Mela at Ujjain, Republic Day, Independence Day celebrations in Delhi and Commonwealth Games 2010.
