Dibrugarh: A powerful storm accompanied by heavy rain caused widespread damage in parts of Dibrugarh district, Assam, on Thursday, affecting more than a hundred residents, officials said.
The worst-hit area was Lezai Kalakhowa, where strong winds and rain damaged houses and standing crops, leaving several families affected.
According to officials, the storm struck around noon, causing significant destruction in the locality.
Reports also indicated extensive damage in nearby villages, including Dighalia and Panigaon.

Residents said the sudden storm destroyed several homes and agricultural fields.
One villager whose house was completely damaged said they were seeking adequate compensation from the government.
The storm also resulted in the death of a cow, adding to the losses suffered by locals.
Lezai Kalakhowa falls under the Khowang Assembly constituency in Dibrugarh district.
