Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday stated that Singapore police authorities are scheduled to meet with the Assam police team on October 21 as part of the ongoing investigation into singer Zubeen Garg’s death in Singapore last month.
“Another step forward towards justice for our beloved Zubeen. The Singapore Police authorities will meet the Assam Police team led by Sri Munna Gupta, ADGP and Head of SIT, on 21st October,” the chief minister posted on X.
Sarma added, “Our team will travel to Singapore on 20th October accordingly. Our collective resolve remains — Justice for Zubeen will prevail.”
The chief minister on Wednesday met Acting High Commissioner of Singapore to India, Alice Cheng, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi and urged them to extend full cooperation to the state police to take forward the investigations into the death of Zubeen Garg in the island nation.
A Guwahati court on Wednesday sent five of the seven accused arrested in connection with the death of singer Zubeen Garg to judicial custody after their police remand ended.

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup Metropolitan district, Baloram Kshetri, on Wednesday sent accused Shyamkanu Mahanta, chief organiser of North East India Festival (NEIF); Zubeen’s manager Siddhartha Sharma, his cousin and police officer Sandipan Garg and his personal security officers (PSOs) Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya to 14 days judicial custody.
