Guwahati: A distressing incident occurred on Monday at Bogarighat ME School in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district after several students were reportedly stung by bees during school hours.
The incident is believed to have been caused by bees from hives located on nearby trees. Despite the proximity of the school, these beehives have not been managed, posing a potential risk to students and school staff.
The Headmaster was reportedly absent from the school at the time of the incident, leaving the students without immediate supervision.
Following the bee attack, residents promptly responded. They lit fires to drive away the bees and administered traditional remedies to the affected children to alleviate their pain.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of students and the negligence surrounding the unmanaged bee hives near the school.
Residents have urged the authorities concerned to take immediate precautionary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
