Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged his Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, to launch an investigation into the mysterious death of Rosmita Hojai in Uttarakhand.
The body of Rosmita Hojai, who hailed from Assam’s Dima Hasao district, was found on the banks of the Ganga at Rishikesh on June 10, five days after she reportedly went missing.
According to family members, Rosmita had travelled to Delhi to appear in a recruitment examination and later accompanied two individuals to Rishikesh, where she allegedly went missing on June 5.
CM Sarma on Friday sent a letter to his Uttarakhand counterpart, urging him to ensure a proper probe to find any criminal involvement in the disappearance of Hojai.
“We are distressed by the death of Rosmita Hojai, particularly the circumstances surrounding her death. I have personally requested the Uttarakhand chief minister to examine the issue, so that justice can be delivered,” Sarma posted on X.
He added, “I have personally requested the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri @pushkardhami Ji to examine the issue, so that justice can be delivered.”
“According to the information shared by her family, Roshmita had travelled to Delhi to appear for a recruitment examination and later accompanied two individuals Rishikesh. Subsequently, she went missing, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death have raised serious concerns of possible foul play,” he wrote in his letter.
“Rosmita’s mother had filed a Zero FIR in Assam, which has since been transferred to the concerned police station in Uttarakhand,” he wrote.

“In view of the gravity of the matter and the deep anguish being experienced by her family. I request your kind intervention to ensure that the matter is investigated in a comprehensive and time-bound manner, examining all possible angles, If any criminal involvement is found. I urge that the responsible individuals be identified. apprehended, and prosecuted in accordance with the law so that justice is delivered,” Sarma wrote.
