The Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC) has issued a notice announcing that all roadside markets will be temporarily closed on February 14, 2026, in view of the major inaugural event scheduled in the district.

An office order dated February 11, 2026, stated that the decision has been taken in view of the inauguration programme of the “First Ever IAF Emergency Landing Facility of North East India,” scheduled to be held on February 14 in Moran.

The Office of the Commissioner, Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation, stated that the temporary closure is aimed at avoiding traffic congestion and ensuring smooth movement of vehicles and the general public during the event.

“All roadside markets falling under the jurisdiction of Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation shall remain temporarily closed on 14th February 2026,” the notice said.

The Enforcement Branch along with concerned officers has been instructed to strictly implement the order. The corporation has also warned that it will deal with any violation of the order under the provisions of the Assam Municipal Act and other relevant rules in force.

Residents and vendors have also been advised to take note of the directive and make suitable arrangements in compliance with the order.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the IAF Emergency Landing Facility built along a 4.2-kilometre stretch of a four-lane highway in Dibrugarh on February 14. The ELF has been constructed to meet stringent technical and safety standards required for military aircraft operations, including reinforced pavement, suitable runway markings and supporting infrastructure.
