GUWAHATI: This year’s Magh Bihu festivities have brought more than just traditional cheer for Purabi Dairy, the largest dairy cooperative in the Northeast.
Reportedly, the cooperative experienced an exceptional surge in both milk and dairy product sales, marking a joyous celebration for stakeholders and the dairy farming community.
In the days leading up to Magh Bihu, the dairy cooperative’s diverse range of products, including the milk equivalent of dairy products, saw a staggering 27% growth, highlighting the strong patronage from customers.
The volume of milk sales also witnessed an impressive 20% increase, showcasing a robust demand for Purabi Dairy’s high-quality milk offerings.
“The notable surge in sales figures is a positive development for the dairy farmers of the state,” remarked a spokesperson from WAMUL. “This continued patronage from our customers enables us to provide enhanced revenue opportunities to the dairy farmers,” a spokesperson added.
West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL), the entity behind the Purabi Dairy brand, released a statement revealing additional successes.
Sales of curds experienced a remarkable growth of 28%, while cream and paneer also registered significant gains of 24% and 31%, respectively, compared to the last Bhogali Bihu.
As Purabi Dairy continues to expand its product portfolio, with plans to introduce ice cream and flavoured milk in the coming months, the cooperative highlighted the crucial role customer play in supporting the livelihoods of thousands of dairy farmers in the state.
WAMUL has been instrumental in empowering farmers in Assam to achieve self-reliance in dairy farming, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Aatmanirbhar” farmers.
As the cooperative forges ahead with new product offerings, it stands as a beacon of economic empowerment for dairy farmers in Assam.
