Guwahati: Three frontline railway personnel of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have been honoured for their alertness and quick response that averted a possible tragedy after a suspected IED blast damaged railway tracks in Assam last month.
Loco pilot Jitendra Kumar, senior loco pilot Sailendra Kumar Keshari, and train manager Bholaram Das were felicitated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava with cash rewards and certificates for their exemplary vigilance and professionalism.

The recognition followed an incident on October 23, when a goods train passing between Kokrajhar and Salakati stations in the Alipurduar division experienced a sudden jolt around 1 am.
The crew immediately halted the train, informed control authorities, and discovered that the track had been damaged by a suspected explosion about 5 km from Kokrajhar station.
Officials said their swift action prevented a potential disaster, protected railway property, and enabled prompt restoration of train services.
The NFR management commended the trio for their presence of mind and commitment to passenger safety.
