Guwahati: The West Assam Milk Producers’ Co-operative Union Ltd. (WAMUL), popularly known as Purabi Dairy, has recorded a turnover exceeding Rs. 320 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25, marking a 25% growth over the previous year.
The announcement comes alongside significant achievements, including ISO certifications for its facilities.

Additionally, the cattle-feed plant in Changsari, Kamrup district, earned the ISO 9001:2015 certification for its robust quality management practices.
The Panjabari plant, expanded under the World Bank-aided Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) with an investment of Rs. 49 crore, was commissioned in March 2024.
Meanwhile, the Changsari plant, operational since May 2022 with funding from the Assam government under RIDF-XXIII, continues to bolster Purabi’s supply chain.
“Purabi Dairy has achieved remarkable milestones in the past year,” said WAMUL Managing Director Sameer Kumar Parida.
“Crossing the Rs. 300-crore turnover mark and diversifying our product portfolio reflects our dedication to quality and farmer empowerment. With ambitious plans for expansion, we aim for even greater success in the coming years.”
Purabi Dairy also reported significant growth in its product lines.
Packaged liquid milk sales rose by over 16%, while products like curd, ghee, paneer, and cream saw growth rates of 65%, 55%, and 35%, respectively.
Newly introduced products, such as Purabi Ice Cream and Flavored Milk, were met with enthusiastic consumer response.
Geographic expansion has further solidified Purabi’s market presence, with its products now available across Assam, from Tinsukia to Dhubri, and in North Bank districts like Dhemaji and Sonitpur.
Looking ahead, Purabi Dairy has set a target of surpassing Rs. 450 crore in turnover for FY 2025-26.
A recent agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will see the Panjabari plant’s milk processing capacity double to 3 lakh liters per day, backed by a Rs. 100-crore investment.

“Our expanded capacity will not only meet growing market demand but also support local dairy farmers with sustainable income opportunities,” said Satya Brata Bose, Managing Director of NEDFL.
Currently, Purabi procures over 1.6 lakh liters of milk daily from 51,000 producers through more than 1,300 Dairy Cooperative Societies.
By integrating the East Assam Milk Union Ltd. under its operations, Purabi has extended its network deep into Upper Assam.
