Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his two-day trip to Assam on Saturday, during which he will meet the BJP’s state core committee and discuss on BJP’s strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
PM Modi is scheduled to land at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati at 7:30 PM, and is scheduled to roll out developmental projects worth nearly Rs 11,600 crore.
The Prime Minister will address a public meeting at 11:30 AM on Sunday at the Multipurpose Sports Complex of the College of Veterinary Science at Khanapara in Guwahati.
During the public meeting, many state and central projects will be unveiled, senior BJP leaders told Northeast News on Saturday.
The projects which are likely to get PM Modi’s blessings include the Rs 498 crore Kamakhya Temple corridor, the Rs 358 crore six-lane road from the new airport terminal in Guwahati, the Rs 831 crore FIFA-standard Nehru Stadium, and the Rs 300 crore new sports complex in Chandrapur.
Modi will also kick start the second edition of Asom Mala roads, which would include 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, entailing a total investment of Rs 3,444 crore.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the newly constructed four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, developed at a cost of Rs 1,451 crore, and another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri, constructed at Rs 592 crore.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stones for the Rs 3,250 crore integrated new Gauhati Medical College and Hospital complex and the proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 578 crore.
Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Rs 297-crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.
