GUWAHATI: Pragjyotishpur University witnessed a series of significant meetings aimed at steering the institution towards further excellence and development.
The 8th Governing Body Meeting of the university was held on April 26 and was followed by the 2nd Academic Council Meeting on April 27.
Members of the governing body and the academic council assembled to address important matters shaping the university’s upward trajectory.
The proceedings on April 26 commenced with a vastu puja ceremony at the University’s Main Campus in Hajongbari.
Following this, the Governing Body Meeting began with a thorough review of the proceedings of the previous session held on December 17, 2023.
Prof. Jogesh Kakati, the University’s Registrar, presented an insightful institutional progress report, highlighting past achievements and forthcoming challenges.
A robust discussion ensued, enriched by Monami Deka, Faculty of Economics, who delivered a presentation on the university’s distinctive strengths and contributions.
Presided over by Chancellor Prof. Pradeep Kumar Joshi, the meeting deliberated on administrative matters crucial for the university’s efficient functioning.
Decisions were taken regarding the approval of a scholarship module, recruitment to key positions, formation of a Statute Preparation Committee, and the establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for procurement processes.
Additionally, approval was granted for the fee structure of the upcoming academic session and the introduction of a new Diploma Course.
On April 27, the 2nd Academic Council Meeting convened with vigour and purpose.
Following the Registrar’s presentation of the institutional progress report, Prof. Smriti Kumar Sinha, the Vice-Chancellor, explained the academic plan for the Academic Session 2024–25.
The presentation catalysed discussions and suggestions aimed at enhancing the academic landscape of Pragjyotishpur University.
The meetings concluded with a shared vision and renewed determination to propel Pragjyotishpur University towards greater heights.
