GUWAHATI: The Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival is back to illuminate Guwahati from September 29, offering a platform for literary and cultural exploration. This year, the festival delves into the theme of “In Search of Roots”, inviting attendees on a three-day fest at at District Library Auditorium and Sahitya Sabha Bhavan.
The festival’s schedule is packed with engaging sessions and activities designed to captivate literary enthusiasts. It includes thought-provoking panel discussions, conversations with celebrated authors, interactive and creative writing workshops, a quiz, enchanting poetry recitals, and the grand unveiling of new books.
To be inaugurated by National Book Trust chairman Milind Sudhakar Marathe, the lineup of participants is a glittery one with luminaries, including noted Gorkha author Lil Bahadur Chetri, as well as authors Suvash Chandra Satapathy from Bhubaneshwar and Bhushan Bhave from Goa. The event will also host prominent personalities from the realms of media and film, enriching the literary tapestry of Assam.
In a celebration of linguistic diversity, the festival will spotlight a multi-Lingual poetry session where poets will enchant the audience with their verses in Assamese, Bodo, Karbi, Mishing, Nepali, Bengali, Rabha, Tiwa, and other languages.
Choudhury underscored the festival’s central mission – to cultivate an environment of reading and intellectual exchange, nurturing a deep appreciation for literature and culture.
In its commitment to engaging with young minds, the festival will have a quiz competition focused on Indian history and culture, offering an enticing prize money. Additionally, distinguished author and speaker Atanu Bhattacharyya will conduct an exclusive creative writing session tailored for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In the lead-up to the Literary Festival (LitFest), a series of pre-events have been arranged across different corners of Assam. These gatherings have taken place at esteemed institutions such as Bholanath College in Dhubri, Dibrugarh’s Hunamanbax Surajmall Kanoi College, Dhemaji Balika Bidyalaya in Dhemaji, and North Lakhimpur College.
