Dibrugarh: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will witness to the state’s effort to create a Guinness Book of World Record during Rongali Bihu celebration in April this year.
The cabinet meeting of the Assam government which was held on Monday at Dibrugarh in Upper Assam decided to set a target on the Guinness Book of Records during the Rongali Bihu (Assamese New Year) celebration.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Assam government will arrange a mega Rongali Bihu celebration in Guwahat and 10,000 to 15,000 young boys and girls will perform the traditional Bihu dance.
It will be the biggest dance performance in the world, and will find Assam a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The chief minister constituted a cabinet committee for smooth conduct of the Rongali Bihu event. The Minister for Culture, Bimal Borah will head the committee.
The Rongali Bihu is celebrated to mark the beginning of the Assamese New Year and also to welcome the spring season. Rongali Bihu festival is full of happiness and bliss and it is celebrated through music and dances.
