Mangaldoi (Assam): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stones for a series of health and infrastructure projects worth Rs. 6,300 crore in Assam’s Darrang district.
At Mangaldoi, the Prime Minister flagged off the construction of Darrang Medical College and Hospital, along with an attached nursing college and a GNM school, with a combined investment of Rs. 570 crore.
He also laid the foundation for two major connectivity projects — the 2.9 km Narengi-Kuruwa bridge over the Brahmaputra, estimated at Rs. 1,200 crore, and the 118.5 km Guwahati Ring Road linking Kamrup and Darrang districts in Assam with Ri Bhoi in Meghalaya.
The ring road alone carries an estimated cost of Rs. 4,530 crore.

Later in the day, Modi is scheduled to inaugurate two major industrial facilities in Golaghat district — a bamboo-based ethanol plant costing over Rs. 5,000 crore and the Rs. 7,230-crore Petro Fluidised Catalytic Cracker Unit at the Numaligarh Refinery.
The Prime Minister reached Assam on Saturday evening and took part in the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika.
