Guwahati: Peerless Hospital Guwahati has strengthened its academic and clinical collaboration with The Assam Royal Global University to enhance hands-on training and industry-integrated learning for medical students, officials said.
The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year between the super-speciality hospital and the university, at a time when the Northeast is facing an acute shortage of trained healthcare professionals.
Since the agreement, the hospital has conducted multiple clinical exposure sessions, specialist-led lectures and structured industry interactions for students of the Royal School of Medical & Allied Sciences (RSMAS).
Officials said the programme is aimed at aligning medical education with real-world healthcare challenges by offering students practical experience in a hospital setting.
Under the partnership, RSMAS students will continue to receive opportunities for clinical training, internships, research and academic exchange, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and medical practice in eastern India.
The MoU was signed by Dr Gautam Kr Das, CEO of Peerless Hospital Guwahati, and Dr Pranab Barua, Medical Superintendent and Director of the Emergency Department, along with Dr Diganta Munshi, Registrar (Administration) of The Assam Royal Global University, and Dr Abhijit Dutta, Dean of RSMAS.
Highlighting the significance of the collaboration, Dr Das said the demand for skilled healthcare professionals continues to outpace supply, particularly in northeastern India.

He said structured and specialised clinical exposure is key to preparing a confident and competent medical workforce for the future.
He added that the hospital remains open to expanding such partnerships to support skill development and healthcare capacity building in the region.
Since its inauguration in July, Peerless Hospital Guwahati has also undertaken several community-focused initiatives, including speciality outpatient departments, health camps, preventive screening drives and neighbourhood wellness programmes.
Officials said these efforts, alongside its academic collaborations, reflect the hospital’s broader commitment to improving healthcare quality, awareness and accessibility across the Northeast.
