Jonai: More than 150 students of Rayang Milonjyoti High School, located in the interior Rayang village of Jonai Co-District in Dhemaji, took a pledge to eradicate child marriage, reaffirming their commitment to building a child marriage-free society in line with the Government of India’s “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” campaign.
The pledge was administered during a Special Awareness Programme organised on Thursday by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office Guwahati, on the themes “Viksit Bharat @2047” and “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat.”

The programme underscored the vision of a developed India by 2047 and highlighted the urgent need to eliminate child marriage to safeguard the education, health, safety, and dignity of children, particularly girls.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Shri Shivolal Pegu, along with Assistant Teachers Shri Dipak Mili and Shri Kishen Sonowal, Dr. Narah of Department of Political Science, Murkongselek College, Jonai, and Field Publicity Officer Shri Rakesh Doley, encouraged students to act as ambassadors of social change within their families and communities.
Students, along with teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution, actively participated in the programme.
The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic engagement from students, reflecting a growing awareness among the youth on nation-building and social reform.
