GUWAHATI: The Northeast Media Forum (NMF) has called for nominations for the prestigious Kalyan Baruah Memorial Awards 2024.

The award recognizes outstanding journalistic work by journalists from the Northeast region of India as well as journalists from across the country who cover the Northeast.

The awards are named after the late Kalyan Baruah, a respected journalist who dedicated his career to reporting on the Northeast. This year’s ceremony will be the second annual iteration of the awards.

Journalists from the Northeast region working anywhere in India and journalists from any part of the country covering the Northeast (both regular and freelance) are eligible to apply.

Additionally, nominations can be submitted by individuals on behalf of journalists who meet the eligibility criteria.

The awards will be presented in four categories: print/digital media, electronic media, still photography and videography.

Interested journalists can submit their applications by September 30, 2024.

Applications should include scanned copies of byline stories or certified video clips (minimum 3, maximum 5) for the period January 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024.

Each submission must clearly state the publication, channel name, date of publication/telecast, and language used. For submissions in languages other than English, a brief summary of each item in English must be provided.

The applicants must also provide bio-data, copy of organization-issued ID card and detailed address, mobile phone number, and email ID.
