Guwahati: The Kamrup Metropolitan district administration has announced night-time traffic restrictions on a stretch of the Guwahati-Garbhanga road to facilitate the ongoing construction of the flyover at Cycle Factory Junction and its extension up to Lalganesh Market.
According to the advisory issued, vehicular movement will be restricted from Cycle Factory Tiniali to Barsapara Tiniali from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am until the completion of the construction work. The restrictions have been imposed in the interest of public safety and to ensure smooth progress of the project.
Commuters have been advices avoid the stretch during the night hours and use alternative routes.

The administration has laid out few alternative routes for commuters:
Vehicles coming from Arya Nagar/ Birubari side will be diverted at Cycle Factory Junction via F.A Road towards Mora Bharalu Road/Ambari Tiniali/A.K Dev Road.
Similarly, vehicles coming Lalganesh side will be diverted at Barsapara Tiniali via Kula Basumatary Road (ACA Stadium Barsapara Road) towards Mora Bharalu Road/Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Road/Dhirenpara Tiniali/A.K Dev Road.
In case of emergency, necessary arrangements will be made by the Public Works Road Department (PWRD) to ease of movement of ambulances and fire tenders.
The decision was taken during a special District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting held on Friday chaired by the Chairman, DRSC and District Commissioner, Kamrup Metropolitan with all the stakeholders.
Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation, stating that the measures are aimed at ensuring commuter safety while expediting the construction of the upcoming flyover.
