Guwahati: Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday announced that he has approved the construction of an Assam Bhawan in Navi Mumbai.
Shinde, along with 50 Maharashtra ministers and MLA, reached Guwahati on Saturday to offer puja at the Kamakhya temple.
Later, Shinde had a meeting with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma, and said he has approved his Assam government’s request for the construction of an Assam Bhawan in Navi Mumbai.
This will be the second Assam Bhawan in Navi Mumbai. At present, there is one Assam Bhawan at Vashi in Navi Mumbai. The Maharashtra government will allot a prime plot of land to the Assam government for the new Assam Bhawan.
Similarly, a Maharashtra Bhawan will also come up at Guwahati in Assam, Shinde said.
A statement from Shinde’s office said the two leaders discussed strengthening mutual cooperation between the two states in the field of industries, trade and tourism.
