Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated the North East’s largest auditorium, the Jyoti-Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir, in Guwahati, marking a major addition to Assam’s cultural infrastructure.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs. 291 crore, the state-of-the-art complex can accommodate up to 5,000 people and is spread across 45 bighas (about 14.85 acres) in the Khanapara area of the city, officials said.
The facility houses a main auditorium along with a convention centre, five VIP suites and multi-level parking for around 450 vehicles.
Officials said the complex is equipped with advanced audio-visual systems and modern digital infrastructure to support large-scale cultural and public events.

It is being described as the largest auditorium in the North Eastern region.

Shah is also scheduled to felicitate around 1,000 beneficiaries of the Congenital Heart Disease programme at the venue, officials added.
