GUWAHATI: The bustling energy of young cadets filled the air at the Narangi Transit Facility (NTF) in Guwahati as the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-02 kicked off on Tuesday.
Organised by the 60 Assam Girls Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) in collaboration with units under the NCC Directorate North East Region (NER), Shillong, the 10-day extravaganza is set to mould the future leaders of our nation.
Over 500 spirited NCC cadets, a vibrant mix of both girls and boys, hailing from approximately 30 schools, colleges, and universities in Guwahati and neighbouring areas, converged at the NTF grounds to participate in the camp.
Ranging from Class IX aspirants to seasoned 3rd-year undergraduates, the cadets are poised to undergo a rigorous regimen aimed at fostering leadership, discipline, and a profound sense of national pride.
Under the watchful guidance of Camp Commandant Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, the cadets will delve into a multifaceted curriculum designed to acquaint them with the intricacies of a regimented lifestyle.
From range drills and firing practices to specialised training sessions and community living exercises, every aspect of the camp is meticulously crafted to instil values of discipline, camaraderie, and service.
“This camp is not just about honing skills; it’s about shaping character,” remarked Col. Sharma, during his inspiring sessions with the cadets.
Indeed, the CATC-02 promises an eclectic blend of activities, including sports competitions like volleyball and tug-of-war, intellectual showdowns in debates and elocution, and artistic expressions through painting.
Moreover, expert guest lectures on topics ranging from “Know Your Army” to “Traffic Management” and “Disaster Response” are expected to add layers of wisdom to the learning experience.
The Narangi Transit Facility, accurately equipped to cater to the diverse needs of the cadets, serves as an ideal backdrop for this transformative journey.
As the days unfold, the camp endeavours not only to sharpen the skill sets of its participants but also to nurture values of discipline, teamwork, and leadership, thereby sculpting them into the torchbearers of tomorrow.
