GUWAHATI: In a major anti-drug operation, narcotics valued at approximately Rs. 20 crore were seized, and one individual was arrested in Assam’s Cachar district, police reported on Sunday.
The Special Task Force (STF), under the supervision of IGP Parthasarathi Mahanta, acted on a tip-off and conducted the operation on Silcoori Road during the early hours of Sunday.
The team intercepted a motorcycle rider and recovered a large quantity of illegal drugs.

The seizure included 60,000 Yaba tablets and 125 grams of heroin, Mahanta confirmed.
Yaba, often referred to as “crazy medicine” or “madness drug,” is a potent stimulant comprising methamphetamine and caffeine.
The arrested individual, identified as Sahil Ahmed Laskar, was taken into custody, and the motorcycle used for transporting the narcotics was confiscated.
According to IGP Mahanta, the street value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs. 20 crore, marking a significant success in Assam’s ongoing fight against the drug menace.
