Tamulpur (Assam): Help desks and service stalls at the Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally organised by the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps proved to be a lifeline for veterans and war widows in Assam.

The rally, held on Sunday at Tamulpur, facilitated 453 on-the-spot resolutions of issues related to pensions and emoluments, with participation from organisations like the PCDA, Record Offices, and Zila Sainik Boards.

The rally, which was attended by over 4,800 ex-servicemen (ESM) and their family members from Lower Assam, also offered medical camps manned by specialist doctors, Aadhaar update counters by UIDAI, and financial consultation services from leading banks.

A CSD outlet provided access to subsidised goods, ensuring holistic support for the attendees.

Highlighting employment opportunities, a Job Mela featuring MSMEs and district administration stalls was organised, while skill development institutes and Kisan Jagrukta camps offered guidance on entrepreneurship and agriculture.

A special registration counter for the Agniveer scheme catered to eligible wards of veterans aspiring to join the armed forces.

Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding of the Gajraj Corps, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude for their service to the nation and reiterating the Army’s commitment to their welfare.

The event included the felicitation of Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and war veterans, along with the distribution of motorised scooters and wheelchairs to disabled veterans and dependents.

Cultural highlights, including Khukri drills, Gatka demonstrations, and a Pipe Band display, showcased the rich traditions of the armed forces and Assam’s heritage.

This initiative underscores the Army’s dedication to supporting ex-servicemen and their families while fostering a bond of camaraderie and gratitude.

The rally not only addressed immediate concerns but also strengthened the connection between the Army and its veterans, ensuring their invaluable contributions are honoured and remembered.
