Guwahati: In the wake of increasing violence in Manipur, the Assam police has tightened security and stepped up vigilance along the Assam-Manipur border to prevent any untoward incident.
A large number of Assam Police personnel and commandos have been deployed along the Assam-Manipur border.
Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, said, “Given the current law and order situation in Manipur’s Jiribam, strict security measures have been put in place to prevent unauthorized entry from Manipur into Cachar and to thwart any potential sabotage attempts that may arise from the unrest in Jiribam. Additionally, heightened security measures have been established along the riverine areas bordering Manipur, including the Jiri and Barak rivers.”
He said, “We have implemented precautionary measures to prevent miscreants from entering Assam and disrupting law and order. If anyone attempts to do this, we will take strict action against them.”
Mahatta further highlighted that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Director General of Police GP Singh have directed the Cachar police to take firm action against any attempts to disrupt peace in the district.

Police have carried out continuous river patrols along the Barak River, fostering a secure and strategic atmosphere along the border, he added.
Cachar police have been regularly conducting area domination exercises and rigorous vehicle inspections along the volatile Assam-Manipur border to enhance safety.
Police on Monday launched a strategic road march from Jiri River Bridge along the Assam-Manipur border, traversing villages to bolster public safety and enhance security for community welfare.
