Guwahati: A 43-year-old man from Assam died after allegedly falling from a moving train in Balasore district of Odisha, police said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Niran Biswas, a resident of Chintagaon village in Udalguri district of Assam.
According to police, the incident occurred near Sabira railway station on Sunday when Biswas was travelling back home from Tamil Nadu along with some relatives.
Police suspect that Biswas may have accidentally fallen from the running train.
Following the incident, his body was sent for post-mortem examination and later transported to his hometown by ambulance, officials said.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
