Guwahati: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, accompanied by ministers and MLAs on Saturday reached Guwahati to offer puja at Kamakhya temple.
Eknath Shinde is back to Guwahati after five months. Earlier, Shinde along with a group of Shiv Sena MLAs and independent legislators had stayed at Radisson Blu hotel in Guwahati from June 22-29 before toppling Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.
On Saturday, Shinde reached Guwahati with an entourage of over 170 people in a special flight and was received at the airport by Assam ministers.
The Maharashtra CM and ministers will spend the night at Radisson Blu hotel, and will leave for Mumbai on Sunday.
Eknath Shinde said he has come to Guwahati to offer prayers at the Kamakhya Devi temple at the invitation of his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“In the evening, Sarma ji (Himanta Biswa Sarma) has kept dinner meeting for us,” the Maharasthra CM said.
Sources said Eknath Shinde and the other leaders came to offer prayers at Kamakhya temple as the disqualification petition against the rebel MLAs will be heard in the Supreme court on November 29.
