Amman: Boxer Lovlina Borgohain on Friday again made people of Assam proud by a elegant victory at the finals of Asian Boxing Championships at Amman in Jordan.
Lovlina defeated Uzbekistan’s Ruzmetova Sokhiba by 5-0 to win gold medal in 75 kg in Asian Boxing Championships. This is for the first time Lovlina contested in 75 kg category.
Two other Indian women boxers struck gold — Parveen Hooda (63kg) and Saweety Boora (81kg). Hooda notched up a facile 5-0 victory over Japan’s Kito Mai.
Boora beat Kazakhstan’s Gulsaya Yerzhan by a 5-0 decision. This is her first gold after silver in 2015 and bronze in 2021.
