GUWAHATI: Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara in Guwahati hosted a career counselling session aimed at enlightening students about the diverse opportunities available in the Indian Army, on Thursday.
The session aimed to introduce students to the Indian Army, its career options, and how to join.
The esteemed guests for the session were Colonel Ashok Kumar, Director Recruitment, ARO Narangi, and Sub. Major Ajit Singh, Assistant Director, ARO Narangi.
Both guests were warmly welcomed and felicitated in a traditional manner with fulam gamosa by the Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Purushottam Sinha.
Students from classes XII and XI actively participated in the session, absorbing the knowledge and expertise shared by Colonel Ashok Kumar.
The session succeeded in instilling a sense of patriotic fervour among the students by highlighting the vital roles played by the Indian Army in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and security.
Additionally, the session provided a comprehensive overview of the selection procedures and qualitative requirements for different categories within the Indian Army.
Colonel Ashok Kumar elaborated on the basic pay and grade pay structures, highlighting the rewarding nature of a career in the army with the iconic phrase, “A star on the shoulder is better than millions in the sky”.
To offer a glimpse into the adventurous lifestyle of Indian Army personnel, various videos showcasing their missions were presented during the session.
The interactive nature of the event allowed students to pose queries and seek clarification, facilitating a deeper understanding of the opportunities available.
The impact of the session was evident as many students expressed keen interest in joining the Indian Army following the enlightening discussions.
To further guide and assist students in their aspirations, pamphlets outlining the pathways to joining the army were distributed among the attendees.
