Another tiger has been reportedly found dead in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR), once again alarming wildlife authorities.
A senior official of the national park said that the carcass of male tiger, aged around 13 years, was recovered from western side of Mandir Baneshwar Anti-Poaching Camp (APC) area of Burapahar Range in Ghorakati on Saturday.
The official stated that a committee was constituted by KNPTR Director Sonali Ghosh to conduct a post-mortem examination and disposal of carcass as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of National Tiger Conservation Authority.
As per preliminary report, the tiger may have died due to infighting.

Last month, the carcass of a tigress, aged around three to four years, was recovered from the Kathpora area of the Bagori Western Range. According to preliminary investigation, it was suspected that the female tiger died due to infighting.
It may be noted that territorial fight with another tiger is a common occurrence among ageing males in high-density habitats.
Forest officials said further investigation and detailed post-mortem findings are awaited to confirm the exact cause of the tiger’s death.
