GUWAHATI: A joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Police unearthed a cache of explosives buried underground at Rajghat in Cachar district’s Dholai assembly constituency, near the Assam-Mizoram border.
The operation conducted on Sunday, aimed at recovering potentially hazardous materials, yielded up to 2,900 detonators and 13 kg of gunpowder.
Acting on credible tip-off from military intelligence, personnel from the Army and Dholai police collaborated in the operation near one Salim Uddin’s farm house in the Rajghat locality.
The recovered explosives were found concealed beneath the ground.
However, Salim managed to evade capture during the operation, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt to apprehend him.
Salim is reputedly known as the known in the local criminal circles and is allegedly involved in various illicit activities, including drug trafficking.
Sources indicate that Salim has a history of involvement in narcotics trafficking and has previously been apprehended and imprisoned for his activities.
Despite facing legal consequences in the past, he is believed to have resumed his illegal operations after being released on bail.
