Guwahati: The Assam government is taking swift action to bring home a family from the state who survived the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Wednesday.
The attack, which targeted a popular tourist destination in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, on Tuesday, claimed the lives of at least 26 people, mostly tourists, and left several others injured.
In a post on X, the CMO revealed that the office had been in direct contact with one of the survivors from Assam.
“The @CMOfficeAssam has spoken to a survivor from Assam of the dastardly #PahalgamTerrorAttack and has taken a full brief of the incident they faced yesterday,” the statement read.
The government assured that arrangements to bring the entire family back to Assam are being made on a priority basis.
Officials are coordinating with the central government to expedite their safe return. The identity of the survivor family has not yet been disclosed.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing the images of coffins as “heartbreaking” and a blow to the nation’s conscience.
“The people of Assam join Adarniya @AmitShah ji in offering our prayers for the departed. This nefarious attack will be avenged, and the perpetrators will not be spared. India will never forget and never forgive,” he stated in a series of posts.
