Guwahati: Internationally acclaimed conflict expert Jaideep Saikia on Thursday was conferred with Bordoisila Award 2022 for outstanding contribution to national security.
The Bordoisila Award, instituted by a Guwahati-based media organisation, was handed over to Saikia at a colourful programme at Rangmancha Auditorium.
A fellow of West Point, Saikia was also awarded the Indian Army’s Eastern Command’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief’s prestigious Commendation Card.
Jaideep Saikia has served the Governments of India and Assam in security advisory capacities, including a stint as an expert on Northeast India in the National Security Council Secretariat.
He is also a celebrated theorist and expert on Islamic State, al-Qaeda and Islamic terror groups.
Saikia was also a Senior Fellow at the Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi, where he worked with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
Jaideep Saikia is considered to be an authority on the India-China border issue and his theory of the ‘Line of Amity’ has witnessed enormous traction and is being closely studied by experts on boundary resolution.
Jaideep Saikia also translated Assam’s state song, O Mur Apunar Desh into English.
