Guwahati: Assam Police on Wednesday busted an inter-state drug cartel and seized heroin worth over Rs. 7 crore in Kamrup district, arresting two suspects from Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
According to police, a tip-off revealed that narcotics were being transported from Churachandpur to Lower Assam through Kamrup.
Acting on the information, a Special Task Force (STF) team intercepted a vehicle at Amingaon in the early hours.
“During the search, 74 soap boxes containing heroin, weighing 910 grams in total, were found concealed inside the car’s door panels and dickey,” an officer said.

Both occupants of the vehicle, residents of Churachandpur, were taken into custody.
The seized drugs have an estimated market value of Rs. 7.28 crore as per Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards, a senior official added.
