Barpeta: Twenty-three entrepreneurs from Barpeta and Bajali districts participated in an industry meet organised at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET): CSTS – Guwahati on June 9.
The event aimed to bridge local entrepreneurs with technical training and resources provided by the institute.
The participants, representing key industrial hubs such as the Industrial Estate in Sonkuchi (Barpeta), Industrial Development Park (AIDC) in Pathsala, and Mini Industrial Estate (AIIDC) in Pathsala, were part of the Barpeta and Bajali Nabajagaran Agro Industry Association (BBANIA) formed under the APART initiative.
Dr. Harekrishna Deka, Centre In-Charge of CIPET, led the program and detailed the institute’s range of technical services and training modules, which include both standard and customized courses tailored to meet specific industry needs.
He encouraged the entrepreneurs to explore collaborations, including employing CIPET-trained students skilled in advanced technical processes.
A live demonstration showcased CIPET’s capabilities, featuring laboratory tours, advanced machinery operations, and casting processes.
Entrepreneurs observed real-time applications and product displays, gaining insight into the institute’s practical expertise.
The event also facilitated interactive sessions where industrialists expressed interest in collaborating with CIPET for technical support.

The General Manager of the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC), representing the Industries & Commerce Department, urged CIPET to expand its outreach across Assam.
He highlighted the lack of awareness among local entrepreneurs, which often forces them to rely on external service providers, resulting in higher costs.
The meet concluded with commitments from CIPET and participating entrepreneurs to strengthen collaboration for regional industrial growth.
