Guwahati: IndiGo Airlines has announced a new morning flight from New Delhi to Silchar via Guwahati, which is set to begin operations on September 20 this year.
Barak Valley Development Minister Kaushik Rai thanked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his persistent efforts to improve connectivity and convenience for the people of Barak Valley.
Taking to his official X handle, the minister extended gratitude to the Assam chief minister for considering the needs of the people of Barak Valley and arranging an additional flight.”
“Under the initiative of the Honorable Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for the convenience of the people of Barak Valley, a new morning Indigo flight service from New Delhi to Silchar via Guwahati will commence from September 20, 2025,” Rai said in a post on X.
He added that the new flight is expected to significantly ease travel and strengthen the region’s connection with the rest of the country.
“I also thank IndiGo Airlines for their prompt response and support,” the Minister said.
Based on the schedule shared by the minister, the new flight will depart from New Delhi at 4:55 am, arriving in Guwahati at 7:40 am. From there, it will leave at 8:20 am and land in Silchar at 9:20 am. The return journey will start from Silchar at 10:40 am, with an arrival in Guwahati at 11:40 am. The final leg of the flight will take off from Guwahati at 12:20 pm and reach New Delhi at 2:20 pm.

Notably, Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya had recently urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation in Parliament to address the urgent need for a direct Silchar–Delhi flight, highlighting its importance for the people of Barak Valley.
