Guwahati: A potential disaster was averted at Guwahati Railway Station on Thursday when a fire broke out in the kitchen of a repurposed “railway coach” restaurant located just outside the station.
The fire, which started at around 1 pm, could have caused significant damage, but was swiftly contained due to the quick action of two personnel from the 166 MC MF Detachment of HQ 22 MC Group of the Indian Army.
Naik Babloo Kumar and Naik Amanullah Haque, both stationed in the area, displayed exemplary courage and promptness when they noticed the fire.
Without hesitation, they rushed to the scene and worked diligently to control the flames, preventing the situation from escalating further.
Their timely intervention ensured that the fire was largely contained, avoiding major damage to the restaurant structure and, most importantly, preventing any loss of life.
The situation was brought under control before local fire services could arrive.

The incident, which could have easily turned into a more severe emergency, highlights the importance of quick-thinking and decisive action in critical situations.
