GUWAHATI: The BJP’s Mahila Morcha is gearing up for its upcoming national executive meeting in Guwahati next month. This event holds special significance as it marks the first time such a substantial gathering is being hosted in the Northeast region.
Angoorlata Deka, the president of Assam BJP Mahila Morcha, announced the meeting, set to occur on September 9 and 10. The chosen venue is the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, doubling as the Assam BJP’s main headquarters.
An impressive turnout of about 200 representatives from Mahila Morcha’s state units nationwide is anticipated. A considerable delegation from the Northeastern states is especially expected, she informed.
Deka highlighted the importance of women’s proactive role in politics, underscoring the unparalleled insights and commitment women offer, essential for steering societal progress. She asserted, “In our current political climate, it’s crucial for women, regardless of their party allegiance, to plunge into the political spectrum. Banking on others to address our concerns or relying on men to mitigate crimes isn’t the optimal approach.”
“The forthcoming meeting isn’t merely a gathering; it stands as a resonant appeal for women countrywide to assert themselves more in political circles,” she said.
On the event’s backdrop, it’s noteworthy that the BJP’s Mahila Morcha had previously convened for a National Executive meeting in Karnataka’s Tumkuru district in January 2023.
