Guwahati: The ICC Women’s World Cup trophy drew crowds and celebrations in Guwahati during a six-day tour that showcased the city’s cultural and historic landmarks, as Assam prepared to host the global cricketing event for the first time.
Beginning on August 31, the coveted prize travelled across iconic sites, including the War Memorial, Northbrook Gate, the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre, and even took a sunset ferry ride on the Brahmaputra from Fancy Bazar Ghat.
The tour, organisers said, was designed to connect fans with the spirit of the tournament and highlight women’s cricket on a grand stage.
The most enthusiastic reception, however, came from schoolchildren.
The trophy was welcomed like a star at six educational institutions—NPS International School, SBOA Public School, South Point School, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, SAI RNS Academy and Holy Child School—where students participated in cricket-themed games and interactive activities.

This year’s World Cup, the 13th edition, also promises unmatched accessibility for fans, with ticket prices starting as low as Rs. 100, the cheapest ever for an ICC global tournament.
After an exclusive four-day presale window for Google Pay users, the second phase of ticket sales opened on Tuesday.
With its Guwahati leg complete, the trophy has now moved to Visakhapatnam, continuing a multi-city journey across India and Sri Lanka.
The tournament itself will be staged from September 30 to November 2, with matches scheduled at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, ACA Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
