Guwahati: A woman journalist working with a digital news portal in the city was found dead inside her office at Christian Basti on Monday morning, triggering shock among friends and colleagues.
Police said the woman, identified as Ritumoni Roy, is suspected to have died by suicide. Officers recovered a short note near her which read, “It is for the good of everyone. Sorry.”
According to information shared by police and people familiar with her workplace, Ritumoni had reported for duty on November 23.
However, she did not return home after completing her shift that night. Her body was discovered by co-workers when they arrived at Sach The Reality’s office the following morning.

What has left those close to her deeply shaken is that Ritumoni was preparing to get married on December 5.
People who knew her said she had previously worked with other digital media organisations in Guwahati before joining her current role.
A thorough investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances that led to her death, officials said, adding that further details will emerge once inquiries progress.
