Guwahati: Guwahati will host the Fit India Carnival 2026 from February 26 to 28 at the Arya Vidyapith College Ground in Birubari, as part of the nationwide Fit India Movement.
Launched on August 29, 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the movement aims to make fitness an integral part of everyday life and encourage a healthier, more physically active society.
Regarded as one of India’s largest fitness festivals, the Fit India Carnival saw overwhelming participation in New Delhi last year. Building on that success, the event is now expanding to different parts of the country.
In Guwahati, the carnival is being organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), which plans to give the festival a distinctive regional touch by blending fitness initiatives with the cultural vibrancy of the Northeast.
Envisioned as a flagship wellness event, the three-day carnival will focus on promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, nutrition awareness and traditional sports through interactive and inclusive activities.
The programme has been designed as a multi-generational celebration, featuring sessions tailored for different age groups. Activities will include Zumba and yoga workshops, structured exercise sessions, interactive fitness challenges and traditional games, all conducted by certified trainers.
Alongside fitness events, the carnival will showcase a cultural presentation representing all eight Northeastern states. Highlights include a live Bihu performance, band performances featuring Assamese, Hindi and English hits, and DJ sessions scheduled across all three days.

Speaking about the event, an official of SAI Guwahati said, “Fit India Carnival 2026 is a platform that encourages individuals and families to prioritise health and celebrate wellness together. We invite everyone to be part of this collective movement towards fitness,” the official said.
The event is expected to draw students, families and fitness enthusiasts from across Assam and the Northeast region.
