GUWAHATI: In a jubilant tribute to the musical brilliance of composer RD Burman and the vibrant cultural tapestry of Assam, an enchanting evening of melodies is poised to captivate the audiophiles of Guwahati on January 27.

Titled “Pancham Smaran 2024”, this musical homage seeks to honour the enduring legacy of the legendary composer, affectionately known as Pancham Da.

Aligned with his 29th death anniversary on January 4, the event promises to be a soul-stirring commemoration of the maestro’s contributions to the world of music.

Scheduled to take place at Karma Shree Hiteshwar Saikia Auditorium in Maligaon on January 27, the evening will feature a slew of Assam’s seasoned and upcoming musical talents.

Organised by North East R D Burman Fan Club, the event will not only celebrate the everlasting legacy of Pancham Da but also extend heartfelt gratitude to Assam’s musical icon and the founder president of the club, late Bhupen Uzir.

Eminent personalities of the Assam music industry – Pulak Bannerjee, Manisha Hazarika, and Manjula Hazarika – will grace the occasion as the chief guests.

Veteran artistes such as Jitul Sonowal and JP Das, along with established names like Rupam Bhuyan, Trishna Devi and Barnali Kalita, among others, are set to enliven the stage with their craft.

“Pancham Smaran 2024” promises to be a nostalgic journey through the timeless compositions of Burman, who revolutionised the Indian music industry with his innovative approach and versatility.

Fans and music lovers alike are eagerly anticipating a night of enchanting melodies that will linger in their hearts.

As the countdown begins for “Pancham Smaran 2024”, the fan club expresses their commitment to creating an immersive experience, bridging the past and present of Assamese music.

The Karma Shree Hiteshwar Saikia Auditorium is poised to be filled with the resounding echoes of nostalgia and a collective appreciation for the musical legends who have shaped the cultural landscape of Assam vis-à-vis India.
