GUWAHATI: In commemoration of World Bicycle Day on June 3, a premium hotel in Guwahati organised a triumphant bicycle rally on Sunday, aiming to promote the manifold benefits of cycling.

The event, graced by Dr Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary of Assam, commenced with great enthusiasm.

Cycling enthusiasts and professional bicyclists alike eagerly participated in the rally, which kicked off at 5 am from the premises of Radisson Blu Guwahati.

The scenic route spanned approximately 20 km, offering participants a delightful journey through picturesque landscapes before concluding back at the hotel.

Notably, GP Singh, DGP of Assam, also joined the rally as a participant, adding to the event’s fervour.

Ankur Mehrotra, General Manager of Radisson Blu Guwahati, expressed his delight, stating, “We are thrilled to host this bicycle rally in honour of World Bicycle Day. Cycling not only promotes physical health and well-being but also contributes significantly to sustainable living. We take pride in supporting initiatives that resonate with our commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.”

World Bicycle Day, observed annually on June 3, underscores the versatility and advantages of bicycles as simple, affordable, reliable, and eco-friendly modes of transportation.

Advocating for increased bicycle usage can lead to numerous benefits, including improved public health, reduced traffic congestion, and a notable decrease in carbon emissions.

Promoting cycling stands as a crucial element in the pursuit of sustainable urban development.
