All four are currently in custody at the Dispur Police Station. An investigation has been launched and investigators are trying to ascertain where the pamphlets were printed, who financed them and how they were planned to be distributed.
Meanwhile, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress president Mira Borthakur alleged that the police action was unjustified and that the leaflets were part of a “chargesheet” listing ten allegations against the Himanta-led BJP government, which had earlier been released by the Assam Congress during Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to the state.
